While
sailing the
New England
coast for years, so many lighthouses have been enjoyed from
the sea… as the sailing Sea Captains of the past would have seen them.
It seems fitting these stately beacons should be photographed by
a United States Coast Guard Licensed Master on a
classic sailing vessel from the same fantastic vantage point… The
Sea...
The plan
is to photograph every operating lighthouse on the New England
seacoast...
We believe that this
will be the first time it has been done in this manner, and you are invited to join
Gypsy for this once in a lifetime voyage.
( YOU
may be able to actually sail on Gypsy to take your own photographs...
see the
"Opportunities" page...

During the Summer of 2008 |
After
sailing from Portland, Maine to Penobscot Bay in Maine in July of 2008,
the journey ventured south to Cape Cod, Buzzard's Bay, Newport RI, Long
Island, NYC, Atlantic City NJ, the Delaware Bay, and finally the
Chesapeake Bay in August-September.
(Gypsy
is on land for the winter in a marina at the head of the Chesapeake Bay)
Gypsy
will be back in the water to explore the many anchorages, rivers, and
harbors of the Chesapeake Bay early in the summer of 2009, then venture
north again to NYC and Long Island Sound.
A summer of leisurely cruising the New England coast from New York to
Canada is planned
photographing the remaining
lighthouses along the way.
(There will be
photos and movie clips to download for your personal enjoyment.)
